Spiritual Reading

Fr. Jacques Philippe

Fr. Jacques Philippe is easily one of my favorite writers on prayer and the spiritual life. His books are short but filled with nuggets of wisdom. If you are looking for a read that is encouraging, inspiring, and approachable, Fr. Jacques Philippe books are a great place to start. I find myself returning to these again and again. These books are also appropriate for teens.

Saint Josemaria Escriva

St. Josemaria gets his own category. I have his books on repeat. Even if I am reading another book for spiritual reading, I always have a St. Josemaria book in my purse, on the bed stand, or with me at Adoration. Friends of God is weathered and worn from multiple readings. His books can be read a little at a time for encouragement, inspiration, and wisdom on the path to Heaven.

Fr. Timothy Gallagher

Fr. Timothy Gallagher writes with such clarity with regard to prayer, the spiritual life, the Ignatian Steps, and how anyone can navigate the spiritual life. His gentle voice is encouraging and inspiring along the journey. Don’t judge the books by their covers!
